More Details About One-Time Shredding ...
Q: Where Does Southland Shred? A: (1) We can shred on-site at your location, (2) we can pick-up and shred later at our facility, (3) you can drop off material at our facility, or (4) you can drop off material at one of our collection centers.
(1) On-Site Shredding - Our Original, Signature Service
Southland Shredding will send a high-speed shredding truck to your home, office,
or storage facility on a designated day to take care of your shredding needs.
We will call you, the afternoon prior to your service, with a two-hour arrival
window of time so you can plan your day. We simply ask you to be available
during that two-hour window of time, and have your material staged and ready.
If your material is in a remote location, let us know and we will arrange to have
the driver give you a call ahead so you can meet us there.
(2) Off-Site Shredding at Our Ontario Facility
By popular demand, Southland Shredding offers an off-site document destruction
service in Southern California. We will pick up your material and
securely destroy it at our facility.
This service is especially useful for those locations whose access availability
doesn't allow tall trucks (e.g. under a parking garage), or doesn't allow vehicles to remain on the
street for any length of time. Great service for areas where no machinery noise is
tolerable, or when minimal interruptions to your work area can seem monumental.
(3) Drop Off at Our Ontario Facility
If you only have a few files or boxes, take advantage of the convenience of dropping
off your material at our Ontario headquarters for destruction when our trucks return
at the end of the day. There is a nominal fee of $ 5.00 per standard-size file box for
drop-off service.
Our facility is open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, and from
8:30 am to 3:00 pm on Friday. You may drop off material to be shredded at any time
during these hours.
If you will have more than 15 boxes, we call that a "purge." Please call ahead so
we can have someone available to help unload your vehicle. All material is destroyed
at the end of the day when our mobile trucks have returned from their routes.
We do not make appointments for destruction at the facility as we do not know
when the trucks will be in. If you must see your material being destroyed, we
will send a mobile shredding unit to your facility
or home and destroy it for you at our minimum charge.
(4) Drop Off at Other Collection Centers
Southland Shredding is a forerunner in the implementation of the
collection center concept. For anyone not having sufficient quantity
to justify a minimum charge, we offer authorized locations where you may
deposit your confidential files in a locked security container for on-site
shredding. Simply choose one of our associates and take your files to them.
There is no minimum charge at these locations. Please contact the center for fee information.
Our collection centers do not have a key to access your files; the container
remains locked at all times until Southland Shredding's bonded personnel
open it for destruction. All procedures are in compliance with State and Federal Law.
For a nominal fee you will have the peace of mind that your confidential
information will be destroyed, protecting you against identity theft and
unauthorized persons viewing your confidential information.
Back to Details Q: What Kind of Container Should My Documents Be In? A: We can handle most containers, or even just a stack of papers.
Usually customers use standard 12" x 16" file boxes, so we use these measurements
for billing purposes. You can leave your files in a file cabinet, or use any container you
want, whatever is most convenient for you. We will empty the documents into a larger
container and charge you based on the volume.
For $85 we will shred up to 14 standard file boxes. This amount of paper will
fill our 64-gallon bin, used to feed the shredder, twice.
Back to Details Q: How Does the Process Work? A: We place your material into our 64-gallon bins and shred it right there where you can watch it on the shredding-truck-mounted video monitors.
Our trucks are equipped with a video monitor allowing you to personally witness
the document destruction process. (See Video of this process)
All shredded material is recycled, meeting California recycling requirements.
Our trained personnel then provide you with a Certificate of Destruction,
certifying complete destruction of your documents.
Back to Details Q: What Documents Should I Shred? A: Individuals and business should shred any of the following items they no longer need:
Back to Details Q: What kinds of material can Southland shred? A: More than you might imagine.
Unlike small office shredders, our equipment will chew through thick
bound computer print-outs. Material may be left in file folders, hanging
folders, or envelopes. Fasteners such as binder clips, staples, paper clips, and
rubber bands do not have to be removed.
Southland Shredding thinks green
and we recycle 100% of the materials we shred. Cardboard or plastic media
are recycled using different processes than paper and thus we do not
destroy these items at the time we destroy paper.
Mobile shredding trucks do not have storage capacity to haul boxes, so in
the interest of preserving the environment, we ask our customers to reuse
good boxes and recycle those that are damaged.
Back to Details Q: How much material will you shred? A: For $85 we will shred up to 14 standard-size file boxes.
If you have more than 14 boxes, no problem; we will charge you based on volume.
